Margart asks:
What are they the only race other than Caucasian not consider minority when apply for college, whole other minorities sometimes get point for been minority, and Asian don’t? is all because high ratio of asia apply?
Who will better chance of accept, both similar gpa asia and a mex for example, but asian comes from a lower income family over the mex, will the race pay a factor favor the mex to accepeted to college?

if you’re asian don’t count on being the minority to get into a school or the like. white people should have the same right to get in as minorities if they are as qualified. its crap to think someone who’s mexican can get in with lower grades, service, and extra curriculars than the white dude and the white dude doesn’t get in. don’t be lazy. they didn’t pick you cuz you’re stupid and apparently don’t fit the “smart asian” criteria.

I think that you are right, because there are already lots of Asians that apply, they don’t need special help. Also, I think on average they come from wealthier families, and go to better schools.

Probably because we have a large number of Asian people in Australia. I think each Asian country should probably be considered separately as individual minorities tho, unless there are enough for them not to be considered one.

It is because Asian-Americans are more likely than other groups to apply and be accepted to college anyway. The thought was always that Caucasians and Asian-Americans didn’t need help to get into college. Now, though, it isn’t really a problem because no one “gets points” for being minority.

I agree with smashley. You should be proud to be acceptted into a school based on your merits and not your race. I have met too many “dumb” people who get lots of chances when they were not the least qualified. In fact, a lot of them ended up dropping out or getting kicked out for poor grades or social misconduct. It all results in wasted time for the college and a lost opportunity for someone else who could have been considered.

The definition of a minority is technically the historically disadvantaged. In America, for example, African-Americans were brought here into slavery and as a result many of them remain in inner cities — uneducated, poor, and on the streets. Many Hispanic people are the same way too… particularly because of the immigration laws we have. And Native Americans have been pushed onto reservations and kept there ever since the white men came to the USA. So these people are given special consideration for this reason. For people like us Asians and Indians who are known to do well and educate ourselves, they don’t give us special consideration because we have a historical record of doing well.
