I know the acquittal is supposed to appear in the newspaper but how do is the defendant notified. After an acquittal, does this mean the arrest & the crime never happened? When you are asked if you’ve ever been arrested for a crime can you answer “no”?

you should have the court order dismissing everything. It may show in a criminal history search, but should show dismissal. You have been arrested but not convicted. Usually the question is have you been convicted, so no.
